I apologize for the way things have been looking around here lately. Life has been hectic and unfortunately I have not made the time to keep things up. It is not an excuse, just a reality. I am a stay at home dad and watching two children has consumed so much of my time and life (as it should.) Many things I hold dear have taken a back seat to parenting.
I started to roast coffee because I have been so passionate about the beverage for most of my life. When I started in 2015 I was so excited about the new venture, I never thought it would grow so quickly. I tried to keep up with the demands of being the stay at home parent, a coffee roaster, a husband, and an entrepreneur. Something had to give. It was a hard pill to swallow, because I am hard working and full of pride for my business and creation at Young Mugs Coffee. I sided with my family, Laura and the kids.
I am not throwing in the towel. I've work too hard for the past four years to do that. But this year, this summer's farmer's market season, has shown me that I had to pick one thing and put everything else on the back burner. Watching two very active children and running a business is like having two 80 hour a week jobs and I wasn't getting very much fun family time.
I still roast coffee two to three times a week. I am honing my skills so that I can provide an even better tasting product. I am investing in the future of Young Mugs Coffee (with two highly potential employees.) As the kids grow up, I will find the time to roast coffee and run the business. Andre starts school in a few weeks and I will already have a little extra time each week. Next year, both kids will be in school full time, giving me an opportunity to be a great dad and a business guy.
Thank you so much for all your continued support for the past four years and as I transition into a more balanced life between husband, father, and coffee roaster. I have some awesome ideas on how I want to grow the business and will share them in time.
Have a great day!
